Each year, Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute (THBI) leads the Texas delegation and organizes the BioTexas booth at the BIO International Convention, the largest global event for the biotechnology industry. THBI is Texas’s trade association for the life sciences and serves as the BIO affiliate in Texas. Our goal is to bring together a delegation that showcases the innovation happening in the Texas Life Science industry and that will allow us to create meaningful partnerships that will continue to grow the thriving industry. The delegation includes representatives from state programs, economic development organizations, companies, and universities.
Texas is home to more than 7,400 life science and research firms and over 116,000 employees in related fields. Many top Fortune 500 companies focused on life sciences and many global industry leaders have major operations in the state. Texas is an epicenter for innovation in this ever-growing and important field. About BIO International Convention
The BIO International Convention, hosted by Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), attracts over 15,000 biotechnology and pharma leaders for one week of intensive networking to discover new opportunities and promising partnerships and brings together a wide spectrum of life science and application innovators, including drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, nanotechnology, and cell therapy. THBI hosted the BioTexas Booth at the 2022 convention in San Diego, CA. The Texas delegation included representatives from more than 20 communities, universities, and companies, the Office of the Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism team, and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), which is the second largest publicly funded cancer research organization in the world. Also participating in the booth were Texas’ regional BIO groups: BIO El Paso- Juarez, BioMedSA and BioNorthTexas.
Virtual
BIO’s International event, BIO Digital, was held virtually, leveraging new engaging formats to amplify networking and partnering opportunities during the global pandemic. BIO Digital virtually convened over 6,000 participants for an incredible 7 days of programming, networking, and BIO One-on-One Partnering to connect biotech innovators across the globe.
