The Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute is the statewide resource for legislators about the life science industry in Texas. THBI works to educate both state and federal policymakers, the media, and the public about how legislative policies will affect the growth and development of the life science industry.

The breadth of policies covered includes such issues as: taxation, economic development, research oversight and appropriations, ethics and regulatory, and manufacturing among many others. These policies also affect every segment of the life sciences from agricultural biotech, medical device, pharmaceutical, traditional biotech, and academic research.

Throughout the year, THBI works to help policymakers understand the needs and obstacles faced by bioscience companies in Texas. The end result of the policies and actions of knowledgeable legislators is a Texas life science environment that is encouraging and furthering research; nurturing the growth of new companies and new life science jobs; recruiting new life science companies and researchers to Texas; and maintaining a vibrant and globally competitive industry. The end result is the bright future of Texas.
